A service user is a user for API integrations with Cellosign. Service users can’t sign in to Cellosign; they connect to the API with an access token. Their permissions come from their roles, in the same way as for other users.
Service users are available when API access (API v3) is included in your organization’s plan. Project managers and organization managers can create them.
Create a service user
Section titled “Create a service user”- On the Users screen, click Add Service.
- Fill in:
| Field | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Username | Required. A unique name, with letters, digits and @ . + - _ and no spaces. It is case-sensitive and can’t be changed later. |
| Optional. A contact address for the service user. |
- Under Permissions, give the service user a role on each project it needs to access. A new service user starts with the Agent role on the current project. See Roles and permissions.
- Click Save.
A service user has no password, and no welcome email is sent.
Access token
Section titled “Access token”The service user’s page has an API section with the access token:
- Show / Hide shows or hides the token. Click the token to copy it.
- Refresh token creates a new token. The old token stops working immediately, so update every integration that uses it.
- Open documentation page opens the API documentation.
Block a service user
Section titled “Block a service user”To stop a service user’s access, click Block user under Account status. A blocked service user has no permissions, so it can no longer use the API. Unblock user restores access immediately.
Using personal tokens instead
Section titled “Using personal tokens instead”By default, the API accepts only service users. If your organization’s plan allows personal API tokens, regular users can also use the token from their profile. Personal tokens are not available in projects where SSO is enforced.
